Helathy holiday tips

Posted: December 4, 2018 Posted by:

**Don't skip meals - skipping a meal in the hopes of saving calories prior to a holiday event can often backfire, leading to overeating. Instead, have a small healthy snack prior to the event. **Choose your splurges - scan the buffet or holiday dinner and choose a couple holiday favorites to splurge on, leaving foods you have all year long for a later time. **Think color - create a festive looking plate by adding fruits and vegetables, aiming to fill half the plate with these. **Choose drinks wisely - try to choose calorie-free drinks like seltzer, tea or water. Since alcohol is empty calories, drink in moderation, drinking a glass of water after each alcoholic drink. **Visit the people, not the food - try moving the socializing away from the buffet or appetizer table to prevent mindless snacking. **Eat until you are satisfied, not full - eat slowly and pay attention to when you are satiated. ** Savor seasonal treats - having treats once a year won't make or break your weight; make sure to really taste that treat when you have it. ** Don't feel guilty - if you do overindulge, don't beat yourself. Make sure your next meal is a healthy one and focus on adding exercise into your routine. Happy Holidays!

Seven steps to success

Posted: September 14, 2018 Posted by:

**Body and mind as one - if your body and mind are not working together in pursuit of your goals, you will sabotage your efforts. **Truth - when you want to create change, you must be brave in facing the truth of your innate strengths and current weaknesses. **Purity - Take charge of your thinking; reject limited concepts of yourself and let go of toxic feelings like anger, jealousy and hurt. **Love - when you really love yourself, you build yourself up and do things to maintain and build that life force rather than tearing yourself down with self-sabotaging efforts. **Loyalty - make a commitment and dedication to your own life by putting your real self forward with confidence, determination and love. **Sacrifice - when trying to create lasting change, old habits and new habits cannot exist side by side; give up those habits that are getting in the way of your goals.** Patience - Impatient people risk backsliding and losing the benefits of all their hard work; it takes time to grow and mature.

Simple formula for living

Posted: July 31, 2018 Posted by:

Live beneath your means. Return everything you borrow. Stop blaming other people. Admit when you make a mistake. Do something nice and try not to get caught. Listen more, talk less. Strive for excellence, not perfection. Take a 30 minute walk every day. Be on time, don't make excuses. Be kind to unkind people. Let someone cut in front of you in line. Take time to be alone. Cultivate good manners. Be humble. Realize and accept when life isn't fair. Know when to keep your mouth shut. Go an entire day without criticizing anyone. Learn from the past. Plan for the future. Live in the present. Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

Life lessons

Posted: June 17, 2018 Posted by:

Do yourself a favor and learn how to walk away. When a connection starts to fade, learn how to let it go. When a person starts to mistreat you, learn how to move on to something and someone better. Don't waste your energy trying to force something that isn't meant to be, because the truth is..for every one person who doesn't value you, there are tons more waiting to love you better!

Habits that mess with your mental health

Posted: May 9, 2018 Posted by:

**Negative self-talk - learn to be most compassionate with yourself; **Focusing too much on what others have - turn your focus to what YOU already have; **Not giving yourself enough credit - instead of diminishing your accomplishments, celebrate them; **Striving for perfection - realize that perfect does not exist and be proud of all of your accomplishments; ** Glossing over your feelings - instead of avoiding difficult emotions, try writing them down and allow yourself to feel; **Not sleeping enough - try tracking your sleep patterns for a week and see where you can tweak your schedule to allow for more rest.
